Exploring the Patterns of Business Process Management Evolution

Background

In the past many organisations have expressed a desire to achieve the well publicised benefits from a co-ordinated approach to process management and improvement. Despite this, advocates of BPM often meet resistance and spend considerable time and energy having to first prove the business-case for BPM. In the meantime they continue to undertake isolated process improvement projects in an attempt to build credibility and gain support for a broader BPM focus.

This research is motivated by the aim to assist organisations progress BPM towards an accepted approach to organisational management. By investigating how BPM has evolved in a range of organisations we hope to identify and explain patterns of BPM progression.

Benefits

Your participation in this study is expected to lead to improvement in the success and sustainability of BPM practices within organisations. If you provide your contact details at the end of this survey, you will receive a comprehensive summary of the results arising from this study. Please note, your contact details are stored separately and thus cannot be directly linked to your survey responses. A brief summary of the results will be made available through the BP Trends website later this year.

Voluntary Participation

Participation in this survey is purely voluntary and should not take more than 10 minutes. If you do not wish to continue with the survey at any point you are free to exit without penalty or judgement. Incomplete survey responses will be discarded.

Confidentiality

All data, comments and responses gathered during the survey will be treated strictly confidential and anonymous. The provision of personal information is not mandatory at any point during the survey. Where sensitive information - such as your organisation's name - is required, the identity of respondents will be kept confidential and will be known only to the Chief Investigators. Potential identifying information will be used only for the purpose of providing a summary of the results. Only aggregated results of the survey will be reported. There are no risks associated with your participation in this research.
